Summary : Chapel in Thame Park, situated 150 metres northwest of the house. It was in use from the 17th century as a private chapel to Thame Park and was extensively remodelled in 1836 by Harris and Abraham. It has a west front entrance, with a bellcote above. There is a reused 14th century window which may have come from Thame Abbey (SP70SW2), but it is uncertain whether the chapel was extant as such in the Mediaeval period.
More information : (SP 71580388) St Mary's Chapel (NR). (1) The 14th century chapel of the Blessed Virgin stood at the gates of the former Abbey (SP 70 SW 2). Used as a private chapel in 17th and 18th centuries and restored in 1836. Now disused. (2) St Mary's Chapel (name verified) is now used as a private chapel and is as described by VCH. The building is essentially 1836 and in good conditions. A 14th century doorway exists in the N wall but is possibly not in situ. No direct association with the Abbey. (3)
