SANDFORD TEMPLARS PRECEPTORY

DESCRIPTION + /

Built as a preceptory of the Knights Templars shortly after 1240, when land was granted to the Order by Thomas the younger of Sandford. After the dissolution of the Order 1308-12, it passed to the Knights Hospitallers by 1325. It was incorporated into the camerae of the Prior of England in 1371. After the dissolution of the Hospitallers, circa 1530, it became a farmhouse, (See SP50SW69).
