Summary : A Benedictine nunnery was established at Bretford in the reign of Henry II on 150 acres of land granted by Geoffrey de Clinton. Henry granted it to Kenilworth Priory in 1167 because the 2 nuns at Bretford did not like the place.
More information : Cell of Benedictine Nuns at Bretford, founded after 1154, dissolved before 1167. "This was a small house of 2 to 3 nuns, temp. Henry II. Later there were only 2 nuns and the cell of Bretford passed to Kenilworth Priory, Chanter num.III witnessed by Richard, Abbot of Leicester (1144-67)" (1)
