CLATTERCOT PRIORY AND ST LEONARDS HOSPITAL

Founded circa 1148-66 as a leper hospital for members of the Gilbertine order. Ceased to be a hospital by 1262, and became a Gilbertine priory, dissolved circa 1538. Priory Farmhouse incorporates remains of the Gilbertine Priory. The present farmhouse has a late 18th or early 19th century wing on left (west) which replaced a 17th century range; a projecting gabled range on right has datestone 1614 and on far right (east) a further gabled range of late 13th or early 14th century, remodelled in the 17th century.
