Summary : Alleged Saxon fortification and alleged site of Saxon Nunnery. no visible traces on the ground. The area has been extensively quarried.
More information : The top of Wytham Hill is said to have been fortified by Offa in his war with Renwulf, circa 780.

According to tradition, a body of nuns who had been translated here from Helenstow,near Abingdon, after the death of Cilla (circa 700), but were dispersed circa 780 and the nunnery was never restored. (1)

There are no visible indications of an earthwork on the top of Wytham Hill. The whole area has been extensively quarried. (2)
