More information : Deserted Village. Milcote (172523) (SP). Milcote is that part of Weston-in-Arden parish which is in Warwickshire, Weston itself having once been in Gloucestershire, Rous mentions destruction of a village here. The church here was reported demolished in 1638. In 1649, 1663, and 1669 there were poor-law rate disputes turning on the absence of parish officers to collect a rate. The air photograph shows some earthworks in the gardens of the manor exactly in the alignment of the site of an old lane to Stratford. But there is not a great deal to see. VCH v postulates two Milcotes, Upper Milcote (on Stour) and Lower Milcote (on Avon). (1) The published area has been ploughed and subjected to intensive cultivation for the past few years.
