More information : An alleged Friary attached to Sandwell Priory (SP09SW9) stood in what was called 'Moat Meadow' within a quarter of a mile of the present Friars Park Farm. Part of the moat was still visible according to Reeves and the foundations of a chapel nearby are said to have been dug up about 1764. "At the bottom of Sandy Lane, on your left" was the so-called burial ground belonging to Friars Park Farm where human bones were ploughed up. Friars Park Farm is shown on OS 6" 1891 at SP01149492.
(SP 011949). No trace of a moat was seen within a quarter mile radius of the site of Friar Park Farm; most of the area has been built over by housing estates. An inspection of the West Bromwich Tithe Map, 1852, which included the present parish of Sandwell, proved negative.
