Warley Abbey, was earlier called Warley Hall and was built in the 18th century, close to the site of Warley Tor which had been situated on an old moated site, a former grange of Halesowen Abbey. The site is commemorated in the "Moat Field", and that of the monks chapel in the "Chapel Field", both in the upper portion of Warley Park. (4-5)
Warley Abbey was demolished in 1957 and the Park was opened to the public. There are no remains of the moated grange or chapel.
The field names referred to above have not been sited. A Tithe Map for Warley appears not to exist locally and the names have not been encountered on other early maps of the district. (6)
