Summary : The original toll bridge, built in 1837, had four segmental cast iron arches on ashlar piers and cast iron railings. The bridge superstructure was rebuilt in steel in 1975-6, retaining the original piers; a new toll booth facility was constructed in 1994.
More information : (SK 81947345) Dunham Bridge (NAT). (1) SK 819745. Dunham Bridge. A toll bridge of four segmental cast iron arches on ashlar piers; it also has cast iron railings. Built 1837. (2-3) No longer listed or scheduled. (4) Demolished 1978, replaced with new toll bridge 1979. (5) The original cast iron toll bridge was built by a group of Lincolnshire businessmen. The superstructure was upgraded in steel to carry a trunk road in 1975-6, although the original piers and abutments were retained and continue to carry the bridge. In 1994 the toll booth "plaza" was rebuilt and extended to accommodate four booths. (6)
