Summary : A Roman pavement and coins were recovered from this area in the late 19th century, the first known finds occurring in 1878. Resistivity survey and excavation have only recovered finds and features relating to the Cistercian nunnery SK 87 NW 13. The site has been included in Scott's gazetteer of Roman villas. Scott also notes a nearby find of possible Roman building debris.

Roman Building [GS] Site of (2)

"Roman pavements of an ornamental character have been dug up
here at various times since 1878. Roman coins belonging to
various periods have been turned up by the farmer in the course
of tilling this field. Some of the coins are in the possession
of Mr. Abraham, Torksey. (3)

There are Roman tiles in the walls of Torksey Castle, and Roman
coins found here, ranging from 1st to 5th c. A.D. were in the
possession of the late Sir Charles Anderson of Lea. (4)

There is no surface evidence of this site, nor could the
present location of the finds be traced. (5)

Resistivity survey and two seasons excavations have resulted in
no Roman Finds. All discoveries are related to the Cistercian
Nunnery (SK 87 NW 13). (6)
