Summary : Duke of Rutland's private wagonway or tramway within the grounds of Belvoir Castle. It was constructed 1793 to link the castle with Grantham Canal. Field investigations in 1972 found the feature visible as a terraced way or embankment. Stone chairs were visible, in situ, with the occasional length of rail.
More information : (SK 818 337 to SK 818 359) A former Duke of Rutland constructed a private railway, in 1793, extending from Grantham Canal to Belvoir Castle, a distance of about three miles. (It appears on OS 25" 1st ed 1886)(1)

The line of the railway, probably a waggon way or tramway, can be traced throughout its length as a terraced way or embankment, and in places the stone chairs can be seen in situ with the occasional length of rail. (2)
