Priory Farm. Remains of a grange of Launde Priory, bought early in the 13th c and lost by 1393. What remains is of post-abbey date and comprises an oblong room with two straight-headed two light E.Tudor windows, and an oblong block converted to a living house c.1600. (2). Chapel, 16th cent (3), scheduled (4). (Not mentioned in Knowles and Hadcock). (2-4)
The Chapel is a small separate building standing at SK68312027 and is in a poor state of repair - see photo. The farmhouse at SK 6830 2025 incorporates the 'living house' in its western corner and here part of a fireplace and two typically Elizabethan windows survive. See photos. (5) |
