More information : The remains of a 14thC. tile kiln, at Dale Abbey, "were discovered about 1860, when clearing away a stackyard a little to the west of the abbey. During the excavation of the site of the abbey in 1878 no fewer than fifty varieties of good patterned encaustic tiles were brought to light". (1)
Perambulation of the area mentioned above suggests that the kiln was situated in the area centred SK 436387. (2) |
