Summary : A Late Bronze Age socketed axehead, now in Sheffield City Museum, was found in March 1921 during road works near Hillfoot Bridge. It was at a depth of 6 feet in the "old bed of the Don". It is now in Sheffield City Museum (accession number J. 1921.5).
More information : SK 342888. A looped and socketed bronze axe, now in Sheffield City Museum, was found in 1921 during road works near Hillfoot Bridge, at a depth of 6 ft. in the old bed of the Don. (1-2) Hillfoot Bridge is situated at SK 34248887. No better siting could be obtained. The implement, (accession no.J.1921.5,) was found in March, 1921. (a) (3)
