CALKE ABBEY

Country house constructed circa 1703, with later renovations and alterations of 1806-08 and 1841-42. It possibly incorporates the remains of an Augustinian monastery founded in 1131. It became a cell in 1172 when the priory moved to Repton, and was dissolved in 1538.
