A later prehistoric cropmark complex is visible on air photographs, centred at SK 3040 2817. The complex consists of a number of probable round barrows; a rectilinear enclosure; two possible trackways; and a number of linear ditches. The most prominant barrows are visible as circular ditched enclosures at SK 3049 2825, one of which is double ditched with an internal diameter of 26m, and the other with possible internal features and a diameter of 31m. Between these two monuments is a triple ditched trackway resembling that associated with a Neolithic cursus to the north (UID 1212767). A much smaller circular enclosure lies to the immediate east of these barrows with a diameter of 9m. A probable barrow is visible at SK 3031 2809 with a diameter of 32m. Immediately to the south of this is an intermittently visible rectilinear enclosure measuring 42m by 59m. A possible double ditched trackway is visible to the immediate north. At SK 3037 2827 is another potential round barrow measuring 19m by 23m. (6) |
