Summary : Linear bank and associated silted-up ditch, running south west for a considerable distance from Arbor Low henge (see Monument No. 308656), though probably much later in date than the latter.
More information : [SK 1572 6324 - SK 1602 6351] Earthwork [T.I.] (1) A bank averaging .45m high and a silted ditch commences at the south-west side of Arbor Low and extends for a considerable distance in a straight line in a westerly direction. Opposite Gib Hill and about a hundred yards from it, it curves to the north and passes on to the north-west where it is lost. A great portion is either obliterated or presents but faint traces. The junction with Arbor Low was examined and showed it to be of the same date or later (and likely to be much later)(4) (2-4) Published survey (25") revised. Field reports of 19.8.52 correct. (See map diagram). (5) The bank and ditch extends southwards for some 150m. There is then a gap of 70m before the bank and ditch continue for some 200m towards Gib Hill Plantation The bank averages 2-3m wide and less than 1m high, while the ditch is circa 6m wide. Gray investigated the junction of the bank with the henge and found the bank to be later, but no dating evidence was found. It could be a field boundary. (6)
