More information : [SK 1692 6897] TUMULUS [O.E.] (1) The nearer of the two large barrows (c. 300 yards apart) about half a mile from the village of Sheldon was excavated 6.5.1845. It had been previously opened and only fragments of two urns, burnt bones and charcoal, and a skeleton were found. (2) The field is ploughed but the round barrow stands about 5 ft. high. Scheduled.
