More information : (SK 11560991) Tower (NR) (Remains of) (SK 11610986) Ditch (NR) (1) Part of the defensive wall and ditch built by Bishop Langton (1296-1321) round the cathedral close. (2-3) The stone base of the tower is probably the original of 13th century, the upper brickwork being built in the 18th century. See photograph. Remains of the ditch may be traced in gardens and open spaces. (4) No change since previous field report. Published survey, 1:2500, of tower and ditch correct. (5)
