Maidens Well

Hob Uid: 305133
Location :
Staffordshire
East Staffordshire
Uttoxeter
Grid Ref : SK0949032640
Summary : Natural spring, supp Ogham inscribed stone - doubtful antiquity
More information : (SK 09493264) Maiden's Well (NR) (1)

In the mud around Maiden's Well, Redfern says he found "a piece of
Runic Stone with Ogham characters on it". (2)

A small spring used for watering cattle. There are a few pieces of
stone in the mud surrounding the spring but no evidence of any former
structure. Redfern's 'Runic Stone' with 'Ogham' is probably a typical
mis-identification of his period. (3)
