More information : Plot mentions a barrow, thought by him to be of Saxon origin, "in a place called Low-field about a quarter of a mile W from Combridg". (1) Every appearance of an Anglo-Saxon cemetery at Low Fields, previously thought to be a Bronze Age tumulus. The site is enclosed by a circular ditch and fence, within which are earthen banks in the shape of a cross. (2) SK 08813771. No trace of a barrow of anything else of significance seen at Lowfields. The circular bank and ditch described by Redfern is obviously a fairly modern plantation ring: the only 'banks' seen within it are rig-and-furrow which it cuts across. (3)
