More information : (NZ 60441498) Ruther Cross (GT) (remains of) (1) (NZ 60441499) Remains of a wayside cross of probable mediaeval originsituated on the grass verge of a modern road. Remains consist of the base which measures 0.7m by 0.35m, and the lower portion of the shaft 0.85m high and 0.2m by 0.25m thick, the remains bear no inscription. There are two regular indentations on the north east face of the shaft, which suggest that the shaft was originally in use for some other purpose - possibly a gate post - similar indentations are also visible in the south west face.
