More information : (NZ 59921029) Tumulus. Cairn 25ft east to west, 22ft north to south and 3ft high. Examined by R Close. No relics; no kerb; little sign of cremation. (1) This cairn could not be located. The area in which it is sited, is now covered by re-afforestation which has been preceded by deep ploughing and some stone clearance. It is probable therefore that thecairn is now destroyed. (2) Two mounds (probably this site and NZ 51 SE 13) adjoining Nanny Howe (NZ 15 SE 14), each about 20ft in diameter and 1.5ft high, were examined prior to tree planting in 1957. Comprised of earth and smallstones they may simply have been heaps of soil from previous forestry work, as trial holes revealed no sign of burials, cremated bone or flint. (This site falls within a Bronze Age settlement area - NZ 51 SE 40.) (3)
