Summary : Site of an alleged Roman/Saxon bridge, no visible remains.
More information : NZ 34611206 Site of Pountey's Bridge. (1) The site of a Roman/Saxon Bridge, the remains of which were seen in 1834. The bridge had gone in Leland's time (1506-52) as he did not mention it in his list of bridges across the Tees. (2-3) At the time of field investigation the river was in flood and no traces of the bridge could be seen either on the bed of the river or the banks. (4) No visible remains confirmed. (5)
