More information : (NZ 234445) Bear Park (NAT) (Rural area of indefinite
extent - 25" ONB 1961) (1)

Bear or Beaurepaire Park, enclosed by Prior Hugh (1258-74) and
enlarged 1311 was ravaged by the Scots in 1315. Stone for repairing
the park wall is mentioned in 1356-7 and timber for fence paling in
circa 1431. The park contained a Forester's lodge and larder for
preserving slaughtered game. (See NZ 24 SW 1) (2-3)
