More information : (SU 40212079) Manor House and remains of (nat) Preceptory of Knights Hospitallers. (NAT). (1) Baddesley or North Baddesley: Preceptory of the Knights Hospitallers Fd - 1167; 1355. Diss 1540. Originally a member of Godsfield before 1167 but replaced Godsfield (SU 63 NW) as residence of the brethren before 1355. (2-4) Baddesley Manor, the successor of the Preceptory, Contains 16th and 17th c brickwork but is mainly c.1780 altered in the 19thc. Nothing visible remains of the Preceptory. (5) Accepted completely by the locals as the site of the Preceptory but the only visible evidence lies in the amount of worked stone in the foundations of the earlier parts of the Manor House, and a very ancient well in the kitchen court at SU 40232079. (6) Manor House, C15th, C18th, with mid-C19th alterations and additions; listed Grade II (listed in the HHR introduction as grade II*) (7)
