Summary : A Medieval enclosure is visible as earthworks on air photographs. The ditched and embanked enclosure (69 metres wide) has medieval ridge and furrow associated with it. It lies to the south of East Heddon. Documentary evidence suggests there is a possible medieval settlement in this area.

There are no surface indications of depopulation, apart from extensive rig and furrow ploughing surrounding the present East Heddon farmstead at NZ 1324 6853. Examination of available APs (RAF 1946) negative. (2)

A Medieval enclosure is visible as earthworks on air photographs, centred at NZ 1321 6841. The ditched and embanked enclosure (69 metres wide) has medieval ridge and furrow associated with it (see NZ16NW 124). The enclosure lies to the south of East Heddon. It may relate to the possible medieval village recorded by authority 1.
