Summary : Celtic monastery at Nursling where St Boniface studied. The site is not known for certain, but three alternatives have been suggested for its location.
More information : It was from a Monastery at Nursling that St Boniface
set out in AD 718 to convert the Germans. This monastery was
destroyed by the Danes in 878. Various sites have been
suggested for it - 'The Walls' (SU 31 NE 16) (1) Gravel pits
where AS remains have been found (SU 31 NE 12) (2), Nursling
