More information : (SU 12927517) Earthworks (NR). (1) RB and IA sherds. (2) A rectangular enclosure of 3 1/2 acres. (3) This complex is set against the steep west scarp of Hackpen Hill, and is under pasture. It comprises a Md ploughing headland with a rectangular penning, 60.0m by 30.0m, set below it; a circular water-filled pond at SU 12837516, and the remains of a probable second embayed pond at SU 12897525. Extending from these features up the steep scarp is a shallow ditch with low inner bank which forms a sub-square enclosure with sides 120.0m long. Its upper limit is set against the false crest of the ridge and partially eroded by later hollow-ways. The enclosure is probably the remains of a Md or later stock-pen. (4)
