Summary : Former site of Tan Hill Fair, held on August 6 (previously 26 July), the festival of St Anne. The fair was apparently primarily for the sale of sheep and horses. Aubrey reocrded that in the 17th century, the fair was held "within an old camp".

of St Anne, for the sale of sheep and horses (2) Aubrey records in
the 17th century that the fair was held "within an old camp" (3)

'Tan Hill' is said to be a corruption of "St Anne's Hill" (2). (2,3)
