More information : (Names : SU 089647 and SU 089646) Ditch (NR). (1) A length of ditch on Tan Hill, north-west of Hill Barn. It is overlaid by Wansdyke; and easterly extension not shown on OS 6" is marked by Grinsell on his sheet terminating at (approx SU 09226450) and is visible on air-photographs. (2-4) SU 08976478 to SU 09026457 A cross-ridge dyke comprising a ditch up to 1.1m deep and 8.0m wide with a bank 0.5m high and 6.0m wide to the E. It is cut by Wansdyke which clearly overlies it, and extensions to the N and S portrayed on OS 25" CSL are water worn channels. The easterly extension at the south end of the dyke, marked by Grinsell, is a separate ranch boundary type feature, for which see SU 06 SE 43. Resurveyed at 1:2500. (5) The possible later prehistoric cross-rig dyke described by the previous authorities has been mapped from aerial photographs. (6)
