Summary : The earthwork remains of Roman milecastle 15, part of the defences on Hadrian's Wall. The platform survives up to approximately 1 metre high with ragged robber trenches around the crest on east, south and west sides; there are other slight disturbances.
More information : (NZ 0924 6791) Milecastle 15 (GSC) (1) The site of milecastle 15 is marked by a bold platform and hollows from which the walls have been robbed. (2) Resurveyed at 1/2500 and correctly described above, it is of long axis type. (3) The platform survives up to approximately 1.0m high with ragged robber trenches around the crest on east, south and west sides; there are other slight disturbances. (4) Scheduled (5) The Milecastle was seen as a slight earthwork and mapped from air photographs. (6) Located on the English Heritage map of Hadrian's Wall 2010. (7)
