More information : [ST 52282289] Roman pottery Kilns are said to have been found during the digging of pits for petrol and oil tanks inside a garage building c.1930. They contained large quantities of coarse black ware sherds, burnt straw and clinker, also an 'as' of Caesar Augustus. Stevens Cox did not see the site, but states that information from a Mr. Cannon who owned the garage at the time, checked with Frank Stephens who was one of the labourers and a Mr. Brown the present owner of the garage.
