Summary : Alleged Roman pottery kilns found in 1930 during the digging of pits for petrol and oil tanks.
More information : [ST 52282289] Roman pottery Kilns are said to have been
found during the digging of pits for petrol and oil tanks inside a
garage building c.1930. They contained large quantities of coarse
black ware sherds, burnt straw and clinker, also an 'as' of Caesar
Augustus.

Stevens Cox did not see the site, but states that information from a
Mr. Cannon who owned the garage at the time, checked with Frank
Stephens who was one of the labourers and a Mr. Brown the present
owner of the garage. (1)
