Summary : Coin of Anastasius I (491-518) (pierced)
More information : [ST 52092269](2) A large bronze coin of Anastasius 1
(491-518) was found by H. Langford in his garden at High Street,
Ilchester, in 1930, when digging a pit.

It was of the Constantinople mint and was identified by Anthony
Thompson of the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. Seen by C. A. Ralegh
Radford who pointed out it's importance to the history of the 5th and
6th centuries. It should be noted that the coin had been pierced. (1-3)
