Summary : A Roman well, wall foundations and tesserae were found here in 1950.
More information : [ST 52062287] Roman well constructed of lias stone 3ft
diameter, depth 5th. It was filled in with lias stone, 1st - 4th c.
pottery and clay. It was revealed 1ft below ground level by Diggers
of sewer trench on 3rd December 1950. Examined by Stevens Cox and
H.S.L. Dewar. No medieval pottery of any kind found in association.
Herringbone wall foundations were found 26ft. S.W. of the well, and a
tesserae bed and disturbed terrace N.E. of it. (1)

There is no surface indication of a Roman building here. (2)
