Summary : A Roman inscribed corner-stone was found in 1961 from the west end of the south wing wall of the porta quintana dextra at Chesters.
More information : [NY 91227011] Inscribed corner-stone found in 1961 from the W. end of the S. wing wall of the porta quintana dextra at Chesters. (CILURNUM). Carved in a sandstone block measuring 19x8x6 inches. The inscription is on the long side and an adjacent side, and on the long side reads:-

[.] VAR.PATERNI,
and on the short side reads:-

P(ER).VAL(LVM)

`The unit of Varius Paternus (built) along the wall (...feet)'. (1)
