Summary : A Roman dedication stone found in 1956 was re-used as part of the stairway to the strong-room of the headquarters building at Chesters Roman fort.
More information : [NY 91177016] Dedication stone found in 1956 re-used as the bottom step of the stairway to the strong-room of the headquarters building at Chesters (CILURNUM). On a sandstone block measuring 30x19x3 inches. The inscription reads:-

COH.I / DALMAT / FECIT

The flanking decoration of a double tendril between two pairs of roundels and a pair of single tendrils matches that on the legionary inscription from Chesters. (1)
