The possible Bronze Age round barrow, or cairn, described above, is situated on the summit of Higher Hare Knap at 312m above OD. It is visible on aerial photographs as a mound, with a diameter of 26.5m. (4)
The remains of a large platform cairn lie on the summit of Higher Hare Knap at ST 1485 3950. The cairn comprises a circular, flat-topped stony mound, 21m in diameter and 1m high. The mound is turf covered but some stone is visible. A small hollow and associated spoil heap lies on the west edge of the mound; a walker's cairn 3m in diameter lies on its NE edge.
The cairn was recorded as part of the EH archaeological survey of the Quantock Hills AONB (5).
