More information : Cloister. This lay to S. of church where there is now a meadow which has produced cropmarks of parallel N-S foundations about 10 ft apart. These doubtless indicate the E. cloister walk. The W. wall of the cloister has a number of buttresses on the W. face. This wall is the lower portion of that which bounded the W. side of the cloister garth. West of this are the remains of the E wall of the W. range. (1) The surface of the meadow is uneven at this point, but investigation took place during a period of wet weather and no crop marks were visible. The west wall of the meadow and its buttresses are in a poor state of repair, and are of little architectural interest. The cloister garth would have been centred at approx. ST14281070. (2) No change to previous Field report. (3) |
