Summary : The approximate site of Roman turret 23A, part of the defences on Hadrian's Wall. It is under the 18th century Military Road, there are no viisble remains.

"This has been found, 543 yards beyond [west of] the milecastle" [23]: the site is alongside the road. (2)

There are no visible remains. (3)

The turret was located in 1920 (4a) but the location of the turret is given by reference to Milecastle 23 only (see authoruity 2). The site is under the Military Road, there is no surface trace in area NY 9703 6905. (4)
