More information : (NY 93174775) Drywall building partly destroyed by quarrying. Md pottery found on or in the inside floor level strata. Dalton records a battle being fought near and the building being a 'church'. Possibly a hermit's cell, but only due to isolation. (1) Hogg saw the site in 1943 after further damage by the quarry and made a plan. There was much pottery in a midden and he saw also stones from a small watermill; the site of the mill-wheel has been destroyed. (2) On the site indicated stands a fragment of drystone revet- ment, 3m long by 1m high, and turf covered. There are no other idientifiable remains of a building. Immediately to the NW the ground has been removed by quarrying, which appears to have already destroyed the majority of the remains. (3) Condition as in report of 20 6 57. (4)
