More information : In 1708 the London Lead Company took leases of lead mines. (1)

The right bank of the Bolt's Burn, known as Jeffrey's Rake
(NY 954473) is covered with disused lead workings - all no doubt
worked by the London Lead Company, until its disbandonment in 1905.
