Turret 30A was located in 1912 at a chained distance of 594 yards, along the line of the Wall, from the centre of milecastle 30. the greater part lies under the modern road, but the south face was found 1ft. 6ins. south of the stone dyke on the south side of the road, and 6 ft east of the fence which crosses the pond in the ditch of the vallum. (2)
There are no visible remains. (3)
The 1966 excavation by R.W.Harris, Durham University, proved inconclusive. Only a scattering of pottery and the foundations of a field wall were found. (4)
There is no surface trace of the turret; OS position at NY 8701 7143, based on the measurements of authority 2, accepted. (5)
