Summary : Earthworks of an extraction site of possible medieval date is visible on lidar images.
More information : Earthworks of an extraction site of possible medieval date is visible on lidar images. The irregular pit is roughly 38m by 48m and is situated in the area of woodland 230m north of Priory Farm at approximately SO 2559 4461. A small, round depression about 10m wide is also visible to the south and could be another associated extraction. Its location is also marked on the 1st edition 6-inch OS map as an “old quarry†so it may have been a small quarry associated with the nearby site of the former medieval Priory (NRHE 104909). (1-2)
