More information : A probable medieval / post medieval field system is visible as earthwork banked and ditched field boundaries and at least one hollow way, centred at approximately SJ 4362 5114 on lidar imagery and appearing to remain extant on the latest 2013 aerial photography. The field system is probably associated with the medieval settlement at Castletown (UID 68914) to the south-east.
The field system comprises a central east-west running hollow way with accompanying parallel field boundaries and further ditches and banks running perpendicular to north and south. It is directly associated with contemporary ridge and furrow ploughing (UID 1606668) (1-2). |
