More information : Hollow ways of possible medieval and / or post medieval date are visible as earthworks centred at approximately SJ 9713 7200 on lidar imagery and remain extant on the latest 2015 oblique aerial photography. The hollow ways appear to lead up to, and then through, the medieval deer pound enclosure (UID 78231) on Toot Hill, breaking the enclosure's north-eastern and south-western perimeters.
The majority of the trackways are located to the south of the deer pound, climbing the relatively steep south and south-east facing slopes. One branching hollow way from the main route appears to run to the western corner of the enclosure but does not break the perimeter ditch (1-2). |
