More information : The remnants of a medieval and/or post medieval field system comprising ditched and scarped field boundaries, possible ridge and furrow and narrow ridge and furrow are visible as earthworks on historical air photos and on lidar imagery around NY3721 4730. These features are located in parkland associated with Rose Castle (UID 10509) and lie between Hill Top and Holm Hill. Some of the boundaries coincide with lines of trees that are depicted on the Ordnance Survey map of 1868 and it is possible that these fields were abandoned for emparkment but that some of the hedge lines retained in the designed landscape.
