Summary : Supposed site of a Roman signal station at Augill Castle, excavations found no trace of this site.
More information : A probable Roman signal station lies half a Km north of Augill Castle at NY 806143. There are few extant remains but a circular feature is defined by weed growth and a dished effect in the ground. It is associated with a surviving road-cutting heading for the Roman fort. (1)

The site near Augill Castle comprises of 'hollow ways' and has no Roman features. (2)

Excavation of the circular surface emplacement which has been suggested as the site of a signal station found no trace of such a feature. Inf. Wolliscroft D J. (3)
