Summary : The surface remains of the 20th century Hartham Park Quarries and the Second World War military camp can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1946. This site is immediately to the east of Pickwick Quarry (1466496) and may be an extension of that site. Air photos taken in 1946 show the slope shaft and buildings associated with the quarry. There is also spoil spread across the site and this is likely to be quarrying waste which was removed from the mine when converted to a store. Military buildings and structures are on the original quarry site with accommodation buildings to the east linked by a series of pathways. Air photos taken in 2006 show that with the exception of the slope shaft, all other structures have been demolished and the site redeveloped with industrial units and housing. |
