Summary : Cross. Reputed to be 13th century, but manifestly 9th-10th century. Saxon. Stone. Two main sides, north and south. Saxon Cross shape with aurea, bearing, on north side, a high-relief image of Crucified Christ. On south side the image is partly obliterated, but may be Christ in Majesty. Shaft has, on north, a figure climbing rocks, on south foliage and interlace, the latter repeated on edges. |
